Thirty years is a serious run for any AC system. Most units are ready for retirement around the 15-year mark, so when we showed up to this job, we knew exactly what we were dealing with - a system that had been running on borrowed time for a long while. The old outdoor unit was worn, corroded, and working way harder than it should have been just to keep up.

We pulled out the old system and replaced it with a brand new Coleman 13.2 SEER high-efficiency unit. The Coleman line is a solid choice - built tough, runs efficiently, and backs it up with a strong manufacturer warranty. For a homeowner who had been limping along on an aging system, this was a major upgrade in both comfort and peace of mind.

Inside, we took care of all the line set work and condensate drainage at the air handler too. Every connection was properly insulated and secured. That kind of detail work matters - sloppy line connections and uninsulated copper are two of the most common causes of efficiency loss and future service calls. We don't cut corners on that stuff.

The difference between a 30-year-old system and a new 13.2 SEER unit is significant. Older systems running near the end of their life often operate at a fraction of their original efficiency - costing more every month and cooling less. A properly sized, new high-efficiency unit changes that quickly. This homeowner is heading into summer with a system they can actually count on.

If your AC is getting up there in age and you've been wondering whether it's time - it probably is. Repairs on old systems add up fast, and at some point you're just throwing money at a unit that's going to need replacing anyway. An AC replacement done right is one of the best investments you can make in your home's comfort and your monthly utility bill.
