When a water heater reaches the end of its lifespan, replacing it before it fails completely can prevent costly water damage, unexpected loss of hot water, and higher utility bills. For this project, our team completed a full 30-gallon gas water heater replacement, upgraded the water piping, and installed new gas connections to provide the homeowner with a safer, more reliable hot water system.
After shutting off the water and gas supply, we carefully disconnected the existing unit by cutting out the old copper water lines and unthreading the original black iron gas piping. The aging water heater was then safely removed to make way for a brand-new, energy-efficient 30-gallon gas water heater.
To ensure a durable, code-compliant installation, we fabricated new hot and cold water connections using 3/4-inch copper piping and ProPress fittings, creating clean, secure joints that eliminate the need for soldering while providing long-lasting reliability. We also threaded new black iron piping to reconnect the natural gas supply, ensuring a proper, leak-free gas connection.
Once all plumbing and gas connections were complete, the new water heater was filled, purged of air, and thoroughly tested. Our technicians lit the pilot, adjusted the temperature to a safe medium setting, and performed comprehensive leak testing on every water and gas connection. The system was left operating exactly as intended, delivering dependable hot water with zero leaks.
At Dion's Complete Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, we take pride in installing water heaters the right way—not just replacing the tank, but upgrading the piping, ensuring proper gas connections, and verifying every component before we leave. Whether your water heater is leaking, rusting, producing inconsistent hot water, or has simply reached the end of its service life, our experienced team is ready to provide a professional replacement that homeowners can rely on for years to come.
